Trinity Guy, a well-known skitmaker, and the parents of the 10-year-old girl will continue to be held in prison until August.

On Tuesday, July 11, a family court in Oyo State issued a remand order for Maruf Abdullahi, popularly known as “Trinity Guy,” to be held at the Agodi correctional facility. Abdullahi, a skit creator, was accused of sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl. Alongside him, Isiaka Ahmed, aged 40, and Rofiat Ahmed, aged 29, the parents of the girl, were also ordered to remain in detention at Agodi until August 3. The case was scheduled for mention before Magistrate Mrs. P. O. Adetuyibi.

Earlier reports had indicated that the Oyo State Police Command had invited Trinity Guy for questioning on Friday, June 23, following a video in which he asked a female minor to describe his genitals, suggesting that she had unintentionally seen them during the recording. The police also interrogated the parents of the minor after Trinity Guy claimed to have received their consent before, during, and after the skit. The police considered his actions a violation of Sections 32, 35, and 36 of the Child Rights Act of 2023.

On June 26, the trio was arraigned before Magistrate Olúdáre Adebayo, facing charges of sexual abuse and sexual exploitation, which violated Section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 38. The defendants’ counsel requested bail for their clients, but Magistrate PO Adetuyibi denied the bail applications. The court explained that the allegations against Trinity Guy and the two others were being reviewed by the state Ministry of Justice. Consequently, the court ordered the remand of the parents and Trinity Guy at the Agodi correctional center until the next scheduled sitting on July 11.
