Tragic Loss: Veteran Nollywood Actress Cynthia Okereke Passes Away

The Nigerian entertainment industry mourns the loss of veteran Nollywood actress Cynthia Okereke, whose passing was confirmed on Wednesday. Filmmaker Joseph Okechukwu, a colleague of Cynthia in the industry, shared the sad news on Instagram.

Joseph expressed his shock and devastation, revealing that he had been in the process of purchasing a plane ticket for Cynthia to visit America when she tragically passed away on Tuesday night.

In his Instagram post, Joseph wrote, “REST IN PEACE, Nwanyi oma. I’m shattered beyond words. The fact that I was about to pay for your flight ticket to come finish what we started, only to hear you went to be with the Lord just last night, is one of the toughest things I’ve ever had to deal with in recent times. I pray I’m able to recover from this shock. Life is really just a mist. One minute you have it, the next you don’t.”

He further expressed his admiration for Cynthia, describing her as an amazing, decent, and lovely soul. He highlighted the more than 20 years of their acquaintance and expressed his disbelief at her sudden and untimely exit from this world. Joseph concluded his heartfelt message by bidding farewell to Cynthia and wishing her soul eternal rest until they meet again.

The passing of Cynthia Okereke leaves a void in the Nigerian film industry, and her colleagues and fans are left to cherish her memory and the contributions she made during her time as an actress. May she rest in peace.
