During his recent appearance on the Echoo Room podcast hosted by media personality Quincy Jonze, renowned street-pop singer Small Doctor, also known as Adekunle Temitope, opened up about his efforts to guide Portable away from his touting behavior and encourage him to embrace his superstar status.
Sharing his deep bond with Portable, Small Doctor expressed that their friendship spans many years, with their association beginning when Portable was introduced to him by City Boys. They even had the opportunity to perform together at the renowned ‘Omobetter concert.’
Small Doctor recalled the moments when he advised Portable to present himself in a more appropriate manner and abandon the rough demeanor associated with touts. He emphasized the significance of appearance in shaping others’ perception of him.
Despite Small Doctor’s guidance, he acknowledged that some people struggle to internalize advice. Nevertheless, he affectionately referred to Portable as “my boy,” highlighting their strong camaraderie and the special bond they share.
Small Doctor further elaborated on his relationship with Portable, emphasizing their long-standing companionship. He revealed that he has known Portable for an extended period of time, unable to determine the exact duration. Portable’s introduction to Small Doctor came through City Boys, and they shared the stage at the notable ‘Omobetter concert.’
Recalling his advice to Portable, Small Doctor shared, “I told him, ‘Listen, don’t act like a tout. You’re a superstar. Dress appropriately, dress decently. How you present yourself is how you’ll be perceived.'”
However, Small Doctor acknowledged that despite his efforts to impart wisdom, some individuals lack the capacity to internalize and apply the advice given to them. Despite this, Small Doctor reiterated the enduring nature of their friendship, affectionately referring to Portable as “my boy” and emphasizing the strong bond they share, akin to someone who stays with him.
