Nigerians Rally to Support Veteran Yoruba Actress Iya Gbonkan Following Plea for Assistance
In a heartwarming display of solidarity, Nigerians have come forward to assist Margaret Bandele Olayinka, fondly known as Iya Gbonkan, a respected veteran Yoruba actress who recently reached out for help. Last month, Gossipinfo shed light on her situation, revealing that despite her decades-long career in acting, she still did not own a car and relied on public transportation for her daily commute.
Expressing her heartfelt struggles, Iya Gbonkan passionately appealed to her fans, urging them to celebrate and support her while she is still alive, rather than waiting until after her passing to engage in extravagant ceremonies. The public response to her plea has been overwhelming, with numerous individuals and organizations stepping forward to extend their support and provide the much-needed assistance she deserves.
“I have been acting for decades, yet I don’t have a car. I rely on buses every day. If I were to die now, you would kill a cow. Celebrate me now that I am alive. I need a car from my fans.”
In an update, it has been reported that Iya Gbonkan has received millions of Naira in support. After watching the video, Pastor Gabriel reached out to her and paid her a visit in Osogbo. He immediately mobilized funds from kind-hearted people worldwide to make her dream come true.
So far, over 5 million Naira has been donated towards her car and housing project. Nollywood actresses Abeni Agbon and Tamotiye, who reside nearby, also contributed 500,000 Naira to support her cause.
