Iyabo Ojo openly challenges Governor Jide Sanwo Olu: “Take action against me—arrest, imprison, or even harm me”

Actress and businesswoman, Iyabo Ojo, has expressed her frustration and called out Governor Sanwo Olu and the entire Lagos state government regarding an exorbitant tax bill she received.

Sharing images of the bill on her Instagram page, Iyabo Ojo questioned the methodology behind the government’s imposition of such outrageous personal income taxes on a regular basis. She highlighted that she had already paid various taxes for her businesses and personal properties, yet she continued to receive hefty bills with a seven-day deadline for payment.

In her post, Iyabo Ojo criticized the government for not responding to her previous attempts to engage with them. She explained that when she visited their office to discuss and declare her earnings, there was no follow-up, but instead, they demanded an exorbitant amount that she simply could not afford. She rhetorically asked if she should resort to theft to meet their demands, expressing her incredulity at the government’s ability to generate such outrageous bills.

Iyabo Ojo also questioned the government’s lack of support or assistance provided to her or her family, emphasizing that she has managed to single-handedly raise her children and support others without any help from the government. She criticized the government’s sense of entitlement to reap over 100% from her hard-earned income.

Expressing her frustration, Iyabo Ojo highlighted the struggles of surviving in a country where nothing seems to work properly, yet the government continues to impose burdensome taxes. In defiance, she stated that if the government insists on taking drastic action, they are welcome to shut down her business, arrest her, imprison her, or even threaten her life. She expressed her fearlessness in the face of whatever fate may come, emphasizing that she cannot give what she does not have.

Iyabo Ojo’s outcry represents her frustration with the government’s taxation system and their lack of tangible support, as she continues to navigate the challenges of sustaining her livelihood and contributing to society.
