Nollywood actress Adunni Ade gained public attention when she was accused of owing the late actor Murphy Afolabi’s funeral committee N250,000.
Alfulanny, an Islamic cleric who called her out, addressed questions and rumors surrounding the incident, explaining the reasoning behind his public call-out.
Adunni Ade had previously faced media criticism for allegedly owing money to late actor Murphy Afolabi.
During the 8-day Fidau Prayer held in honor of Murphy Afolabi, the actress received criticism from the burial committee for her outstanding debt to him.
According to the committee, before his passing, Murphy Afolabi was allegedly owed N250,000 by Adunni Ade.
The committee urged her to return the money, stating, “Adunni Ade, please return the N250,000 that you owe the late Murphy Afolabi.”
Following significant backlash, Alfulanny clarified his actions by citing Islamic principles. According to these principles, it is an obligation to settle any debts owed to the deceased. Likewise, it is the responsibility of the deceased’s family to settle any outstanding debts owed by the deceased to others.
The clerics further emphasized that the public call-out was not intended to embarrass or shame Adunni Ade. Instead, it aimed to seek resolution and uphold the principles of honesty and integrity within Islam.
