Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, a popular Nigerian skit maker and brand influencer known as Kiekie, recently made headlines when she shared the reasons behind her decision to leave her job as a TV presenter.
In her revelation, Bukunmi explained that she decided to resign after her boss responded disrespectfully to her request for a salary raise. Instead of considering her request, her boss suggested that she use her beauty to earn more money.
As a mother, Bukunmi expressed that her motivation for seeking a higher salary was the inadequacy of her current income to meet her needs.
During an interview with Chude Jidenowo, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori provided further insights into her resignation from her role as a TV presenter. She recounted how her boss responded to her salary increase request by suggesting that she shouldn’t worry about financial concerns because being on television would attract wealthy men who would provide her with money.
This revelation came to light as she engaged in an open and honest conversation with Chude Jidenowo, shedding light on the circumstances that led to her decision to leave her position as a TV presenter.
Kiekie shared, “I once had a boss to whom I complained about my insufficient salary. I asked him, ‘Can you pay me more?’ His response was, ‘Why are you stressing yourself? You are fine, and you are on TV. Big, wealthy men will see you and give you money.’ That was the moment I decided to leave.”
She further expressed that she quit because her boss, by holding such a mindset, failed to appreciate her hard work and dedication.
