Seun Kuti, the Nigerian singer and songwriter, has responded after the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, ordered his arrest.

Earlier, Naijalegit reported that the IG had issued the arrest order for the Afrobeat artist.

The IG also called for a prompt and thorough investigation into the alleged assault and stated that the suspect would be prosecuted accordingly.

“IG Baba assures Nigerians that acts of contempt or disdain towards symbols of authority will not be tolerated, and those who commit such heinous crimes will be brought to justice.”

In his Instagram story, Seun Kuti expressed his willingness to cooperate fully with the investigation and welcomed it.

He also prayed that the IG would ensure that whoever is in the wrong will be held accountable.

“I welcome the investigation and will provide my full cooperation! I also pray that the IG ensures that whoever is at fault is held accountable.”

According to Naijalegit’s report on Saturday, Seun Kuti gained significant attention on social media platforms due to a video showing him physically assaulting a Nigerian police officer.

In an Instagram story, Seun Kuti claimed that the policeman had attempted to harm him and his family. He stated that he possessed evidence of this, but he had no intention of seeking attention or fame.

Seun Kuti further revealed that the policeman had apologized to him, and he had decided not to pursue legal charges. He urged others to mind their own business and not cause the officer to lose his job.
